PROGRAM NOTE
This virtuosic solo was written for Nick Tolle. It opens by packing double and triple stops into a relentless swirl of circulating pitches which writhe in place. Distinct episodes follow, each drawn from this opening continuum. In particular, a little 'cadence' figure of widely spaced chords in short-long configurations and a longer passage of quiet pedalled chords interspersed with sforzato 'stopped' strokes. The pushy and insistent, perhaps bossy, quality of the sound led to the imperative title.
