PROGRAM NOTE
An odd little piece with movement titles provided by the composer Detlev Glanert when we were composition fellows together at Tanglewood; they are the names of some of his favorite childhood food and drink. He was also kind enough to translate the texts into German.
  TEXT
Hier bin ich,
Kleine Spring Katrein,
Wenn keiner bei mir ist,
Bin ich immer allein.

Iss deinen Fisch.
Iss diese köstliche Rote-Beete Suppe.
Iss deine Feigen.

Rudere mich den Fluss
Hinunter auf deinem Regenmantel.

Here am I,
Little Jumping Joan,
When no one's with me,
I'm always alone.

Eat your fish.
Eat this beetroot soup.
Eat your figs.

Paddle me down the river
Downhill on your raincoat
.
